MATERIALS AND PROCESSES
Natural elements from around the world, thoughtfully transitioned using methods steeped in tradition, and complemented by modern innovation.
The cellulose acetate utilised to make Onèj frames is derived from cotton and wood fibres- compressed and cured into solid sheets by our renowned manufacturing partners including Mazzuchelli (Italy) and Decoracet (France). The rich colours and unique character of acetate is complemented by its comfort, versatility and durability.
Each frame undergoes a series of individual processes ranging from early design conception and 3D modelling, hinge selection and temple core wire insertion, shaping and curving on highly specialised machinery, through to precise temple alignment and lens placement. Hours of sanding and polishing are incorporated at multiple stages of the frame creation to handcraft a smooth finish to each unique product.
At Onej Optometry, we work alongside lens partners Rodenstock and Zeiss, companies with renowned reputations for precision German engineering and innovative research and development. These quality optical lenses, customised to your prescription, are personally crafted into each Onej frame in local Queensland laboratories.
